The (May) Must-Tries

Healthy Eats of the Month

Raw Republic: Located on magazine street, this little shop has ready-to-eat vegan, raw and organic meals, juices and snacks. Raw Republics mission is “Think.Live.Juice.” and inspires healthy and clean eating along with being mindful of what you put into your body. Even though healthy and raw foods may turn the average person off, the juices are refreshing and the food is even better. Personally, my favorite meal is the kelp noodles but my friends rave over the rolled oats which is perfect for breakfast or some brain food throughout the day.

Seed: This peaceful little restaurant is vegan paradise. With the perfect combination of healthy and heavenly, Seed offers a variety of choices from vegan po’boys, wraps, soups, and more. My personal favorite is the vegetable spaghetti consisting of veggie noodles, puttanesca sauce, and raw coconut.  Seeds mission is “to grow a fresh and sustainable dining experience grounded in New Orleans taste” by using recycled menus, compost and solar energy. Seed also makes donations to several organizations that include Project Orangutan and the Humane Society of Louisiana. Get yourself to Seed for a happy belly and a good cause!

Crescent City Farmers Market: Exclusively open on Tuesday from 10am-1pm, there is no better way to start your morning than going for a walk in Audubon Park and ending up in a land of fresh produce and new treats. Crescent City Farmers Market has new vendors every week and has healthy deserts, fresh juices, salads, organic produce and more. I highly recommend the papaya juice from ‘Amandas Fresh Juices’ and the roasted market vegetable salad from ‘Del Fuego’ for a refreshing and filling start to your day.
